Mojokerto man rapes his stepdaughter for years, exposed after wife catches him
A Mojokerto man identified only by the initials EM, aged 53, was arrested by the Mojokerto City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit for raping his stepdaughter over several years. The case was revealed after the suspect’s lewd acts were discovered by his wife, the victim’s mother. According to DetikJatim on 5 March 2026, the abuse began when the victim was in primary school and continued into adolescence. The head of the Mojokerto City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (SATRESKRIM), AKP Mangara Panjaitan, said investigators began the inquiry after receiving the victim’s report on 26 February. The case was raised to the investigation stage on 2 March. Then on 3 March, investigators proceeded to designate EM as a suspect. Police pursued the suspect, who had fled after the case came to light. “We captured the suspect in Magetan and have detained him since 4 March 2026,” Mangara told reporters at the Mojokerto City Police Headquarters on Jalan Bhayangkara, on 5 March. Mangara said the perpetrator’s crimes had continued for years. The abuse came to light on Wednesday 4 February at 23:30 WIB when the victim’s birth mother, RJ (51), found the offender with her daughter in the kitchen. “At that time, the victim was forcibly asked by the perpetrator to service him in a husband-and-wife-like act,” Mangara said. From there, all of EM’s crimes against his stepdaughter were exposed. The victim told investigators she had been repeatedly assaulted by her stepfather since she was in Grade 3 of primary school, around 10 years old. As the victim reached adolescence, the perpetrator began having intercourse with her. The first intercourse occurred when the victim turned 17. “That intercourse occurred more than five times within a month, and continued into the victim’s college years,” he said. EM is now held at the Mojokerto City Police Detention House. He is charged under Article 6c of Law No. 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence (TPKS), Article 473(1), Paragraph (1) and Paragraph (2) letter b, Paragraph (3) letter c and paragraph (9), as well as Article 418(1) of Law No. 1 Year 2023 on the Penal Code. “The penalties range from a minimum of five years to a maximum of twelve years in prison,” Mangara added.
