Mobile Crisis Centre On Alert for Emergencies During Jamarat Stoning
All Indonesian Hajj pilgrims undertaking the 2026 peak Hajj rituals have arrived in Mina to continue the mabit rites. At the Jamarat stoning site, the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MoHU) has bolstered protection services for pilgrims by deploying a Mobile Crisis Rescue (MCR) unit.
The unit is prepared to provide first aid, emergency evacuations, and crowd management during the stoning ritual on the Days of Tashriq. Spokesperson for the MoHU, Maria Assegaff, stated that the MCR is a crucial instrument for enhancing services at key pilgrim movement points.
‘The MCR, or Mobile Crisis Rescue, is a specialised team and command post from Hajj Service Officers deployed in the Jamarat area of Mina. Their duties include providing first aid, conducting emergency evacuations, and managing crowd congestion during the peak Hajj rituals,’ Maria said in Jakarta on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
Maria explained that MCR command posts are strategically placed across the Jamarat area and pilgrim transit routes. This positioning enables officers to monitor situations in real-time, respond swiftly to emergencies, and provide immediate assistance to pilgrims requiring urgent care.
‘The MCR was specifically established to respond to emergencies, including assisting pilgrims who faint, get lost, experience extreme fatigue, and evacuating elderly and disabled individuals,’ she added.
According to Maria, the MCR’s presence is part of the MoHU’s efforts to ensure all on-ground situations are handled promptly, accurately, and in coordination. This aligns with the government’s commitment to providing a safe, orderly, elderly-friendly, disability-friendly, and women-friendly Hajj.
‘Pilgrim protection is a priority. Therefore, officers are not only stationed in pilgrim tents but also deployed along movement routes, observation posts, and potential congestion points. Every pilgrim in need of assistance must be attended to immediately,’ Maria said.
