Mobile banking services of Bank NTB Syariah, which have been affected by a cyberattack since March 2025, are targeted to resume in March 2026. Management has confirmed that operational permits to reactivate the mobile banking service have been approved by Bank Indonesia.

Director of Bank NTB Syariah, Nazaruddin, stated that the disruption to the mobile banking application was triggered by a cyberattack on March 24, 2025. As a result, the service has not been able to operate normally for almost a year.

“It’s a system, you know. I joined in August 2025, but my colleagues already knew about it. It’s been a year. Let’s just pray that it can be back online soon,” said Nazaruddin on Thursday (February 26, 2026).

He affirmed that the operational permit to reactivate the mobile banking service has been issued by Bank Indonesia. Currently, the process of refining the system is underway before the service is officially relaunched.

“When you build a system, it doesn’t work right away. Maybe we’ll wait another 2-3 weeks, and hopefully, it will be operational,” he said.

In response to the cyberattack, the management of Bank NTB Syariah has made improvements in the information technology sector. Two new divisions have been added to strengthen the system and security.

“Previously, IT was only one division. Now there are three divisions. Previously, there was only the operational division. Now there is the operational division, the development division, and the security division,” he said.

In addition, the organizational structure has also been strengthened by adding one senior executive vice president (SEVP) position in the IT sector. This position is one level below the directors and oversees the three IT divisions at Bank NTB Syariah.

“So, this position is at the level below the directors. So, the SEVP of IT will oversee the three IT divisions at Bank NTB. So, let’s strive and hope that things will be better in the future,” he said.

According to Nazaruddin, strengthening IT is an urgent need because modern banking relies on software systems.

“Because in today’s banking era, it’s no longer about buildings. Banks now rely on systems. If the system is not strong, then it won’t work. Let’s hope it can be back to normal in two weeks,” he concluded.

Previously, in the report of the audit results (LHP) of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) of the Republic of Indonesia, NTB Representative, on the performance of Bank NTB Syariah for the period 2023 to the second semester of 2025, unauthorized transactions worth IDR 180 billion were found. This finding is suspected to be related to the cyberattack on the bank’s software on March 24, 2025.
