MKD: No Ethical Violations in Adies Kadir's Nomination as Constitutional Court Justice
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives’ Ethics Council (MKD) has declared that no ethical violations occurred in the nomination process or the fit-and-proper test of Adies Kadir to become a Constitutional Court (MK) justice.
MKD Chairman Nazaruddin Dek Gam stated that the method and requirements for selecting Adies Kadir as a Constitutional Court justice candidate nominated by the DPR were in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.
“No ethical violations were found in the fit-and-proper test process or the selection of Adies Kadir as a Constitutional Court justice candidate from the DPR, conducted by Commission III of the DPR and endorsed at the DPR plenary session,” Dek Gam said whilst reading the MKD ruling at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He stated that the fit-and-proper test conducted by Commission III on Adies had been preceded by a notification letter confirming that the previous candidate, Inosentius Samsul, had been reassigned to other duties.
According to him, Commission III also unanimously approved Adies Kadir as the DPR’s nominated Constitutional Court justice candidate.
“On 27 January 2026, the DPR plenary session unanimously approved Adies Kadir as the Constitutional Court justice candidate nominated by the DPR,” he said.
Meanwhile, MKD Deputy Chairman Adang Daradjatun explained that the council had delivered the ruling as a case without a formal complaint.
Despite the absence of a complaint, the MKD felt it necessary to issue the ruling so the public would understand the process, he said.
He noted that some members of the public still did not fully understand how Adies Kadir came to be appointed as a Constitutional Court justice when Inosentius Samsul had previously been selected. He emphasised that Inosentius had since received a different government assignment.
“What is certain is that after the reassignment, the DPR naturally took the necessary steps. Those steps, as outlined in the ruling, involved conducting the entire fit-and-proper test process, bringing the results to the plenary session, and approving Mr Adies as a Constitutional Court justice,” Adang said.
