TOKYO (AFP): Japan's Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said yesterday it
would produce and sell a family wagon model in Taiwan towards the
end of this year, with successive launches in Indonesia and the
Philippines.
The combined annual output is planned at 70,000 units in the
three countries, with an investment of 17 billion yen (148
million dollars), the Japanese car maker said.
The "dynamic family wagon" will be suitable for individual and
light commercial use, the company said.
The model will source engine parts, transmission parts,
chassis and trim parts from Mitsubishi Motors in Japan, with some
other parts such as stampings to be sourced from Mitsubishi
operations in Malaysia, Taiwan and the Philippines, the company
said.
Mitsubishi may introduce the model in other countries in the
Asian region and elsewhere, it said.
