JAKARTA — Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) states it has not yet been contacted by Agrinas Pangan Nusantara regarding plans to procure pickup trucks or double cabin vehicles to support Koperasi Merah Putih operations.

MMKSI President Director Atsushi Kurita stated that in terms of product portfolio, Mitsubishi is actually ready to meet these requirements, though to date there has been no official communication.

“In terms of products, we are ready. For the pickup truck, we already produce the L300 locally in Indonesia through MMKI,” Kurita told journalists on Friday (27 February 2026).

This statement is noteworthy, given that Mitsubishi possesses two models highly relevant to fleet distribution needs: the L300 in the light pickup segment and the Triton for double cab requirements.

The L300 is a legendary commercial vehicle that has served small business operators and large distributors for decades. Produced by Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia (MMKI) at a domestic facility, its local production status represents significant added value, particularly if the procurement project considers domestic component content (TKDN) aspects.

Specifications show the L300 is equipped with a 2.268 cc diesel engine (4N14) delivering approximately 98 horsepower and 200 Newton-metres torque. The engine is renowned for strong low-end performance, suitable for hauling heavy cargo across varied terrain.

Current L300 pricing ranges from Rp 246 million to Rp 251 million (OTR Jakarta), depending on cab variant and chassis or flatbed configuration.

From a market performance perspective, the L300 remains a major contributor in the light pickup segment. Last year, sales totalled approximately 13,527 units in national wholesale figures, demonstrating the L300 remains the dominant player in its class.

For double cabin requirements, Mitsubishi offers the Triton. This model addresses heavier operational needs, including mining, plantation, and construction project sectors.

The Triton is equipped with a 2.442 cc diesel engine with power outputs ranging from 108 to 181 horsepower depending on variant. Its 4x4 drivetrain and approximately 220 mm ground clearance make it capable for heavy terrain.

However, unlike the L300, the Triton currently remains a complete built-up import (CBU) from Thailand. This factor could be considered in large-scale procurement projects prioritising local production.

Triton pricing in Indonesia ranges from Rp 323 million to Rp 553 million (OTR Jakarta), depending on single or double cab variants and included features.

In sales terms, the Triton recorded approximately 6,722 units for double cab variants and 1,968 units for single cab variants last year, totalling around 9,000 units, making it a strong player in the national 4x4 pickup segment.

The planned vehicle procurement for Koperasi Merah Putih actually opens a considerable fleet market opportunity for automotive manufacturers.

With local L300 production and extensive commercial vehicle experience, Mitsubishi holds strong credentials to participate.

However, to date, MMKSI confirms there has been no formal discussion regarding this project.
