Misuari seeks KL investments
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Nur Misuari, governor of an autonomous Moslem region of Mindanao in the southern Philippines, will make a pitch for investment during his week-long visit to Malaysia starting today, officials said yesterday.
The foreign ministry said Misuari and his 20-member delegation are seeking investments in economic and joint-venture projects in the autonomous region. He is to call on Foreign Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
Misuari is also chief of the Moro National Liberation Front, which had signed a peace accord in September with Manila. The pact ended a quarter of a century civil war between the Moslem guerrillas and the government of the predominantly Roman Catholic Philippines.
