Misbakhun: If anyone says our APBN will go bankrupt, it's not possible
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Mukhamad Misbakhun, the chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, dismissed analyses circulating on social media that Indonesia would go bankrupt. He delivered the denial during a one-on-one dialogue at the Legislative Jogja Financial Festival held at the Jogja Expo Center in Yogyakarta Special Region, on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
‘If there are people who say our APBN will go bankrupt, it is not possible that we will go bankrupt,’ he said.
According to Misbakhun, Indonesia is a wealthy country. He noted that 43% of the world’s coal is supplied by Indonesia. ‘CPO 40%. Nickel even more than 60%. We still produce rubber, coffee, damar resin, and marine fish,’ Misbakhun said.
Furthermore, the Golkar party politician said that a country as wealthy as Indonesia would not become bankrupt. He did not deny there are issues in tax collection, for example. ‘But this country is too rich to be described as a country that would be in a bankrupt position. Do not believe all of that,’ Misbakhun said.
