The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has stated that technology company Meta has closed approximately 185,000 children’s accounts within a two-month period as part of compliance efforts with Government Regulation on Child Protection (PP Tunas).

Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Kemkomdigi, Alexander Sabar, said the figure represents the latest report received by the government from Meta, which oversees social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

“185,000 children’s accounts were closed in two months,” Alexander told reporters on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.

Alexander explained that Meta is now one of the major digital platforms that has reported the closure of children’s accounts as a form of compliance with Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of Electronic System Operations in Child Protection (PP Tunas). Other platforms that have reported include TikTok and YouTube.

Consequently, the total number of children’s accounts closed by digital platforms in compliance with PP Tunas has reached more than 4.8 million accounts, with details of 4.1 million accounts on TikTok, 600,000 accounts on YouTube, and 185,000 accounts on Meta-owned platforms.

“The total means around 4.7 million accounts previously, plus 185,000, so around 4.8 million accounts,” said Alexander.

Kemkomdigi has requested other digital platforms that have not yet submitted periodic reports regarding child protection measures and enforcement actions against children’s accounts to fulfil their obligations.

“Other platforms have not yet submitted reports. We have asked them to provide routine reports, but they have not been delivered,” Alexander said.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, stated that 200 digital platforms have reported self-assessments of their risk profiles to the government as part of the implementation of PP Tunas.

“We report that approximately 200 platforms have reported to Kemkomdigi to provide assessments of their respective risk profiles,” Meutya said.

The digital platforms that have reported self-assessments include e-commerce, online gaming, and entertainment. The self-assessment reports from digital platforms are currently being evaluated by the government to determine the risk profile of each platform.
