Indonesia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) has launched a complaints service for athletes who are victims of alleged sexual violence and physical abuse.

The initiative was announced by Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir in response to reports of alleged violence involving eight rock climbing athletes.

“We are ready to cooperate with the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI), athletes, and affected families in handling this case, including providing legal and psychological support,” Erick said in a press release on Friday, 27 February 2026.

As an initial step, Kemenpora has opened a complaints service accessible to athletes from any sport who have experienced or are experiencing sexual violence. Reports can be submitted via email to pengaduan.atlet@kemenpora.go.id.

The Chair of FPTI, Yenny Wahid, has welcomed the Ministry’s launch of the complaints service.

According to her, the initiative demonstrates government commitment to protecting athletes as assets of national sport.

She has also reaffirmed FPTI’s commitment to follow up on reports of alleged ethical violations that have been received.

FPTI, according to Yenny, has established an investigative team to thoroughly investigate reports and ensure protection for victims.

“The Federation under my leadership is committed to protecting all victims and upholding a zero-tolerance principle against sexual harassment and physical violence,” she said.
