Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection: Families Must Build Safe Digital Ecosystem for Children
Jakarta — The Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifah Fauzi, has stressed the importance of the role played by families, schools, and society in building a safe digital ecosystem for children.
“Child protection in the digital space cannot rely solely on regulation. The role of families, schools, and society is very important in building a safe digital ecosystem for children,” Minister Arifah Fauzi said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
The PPPA Ministry strongly supports the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection (PP Tunas).
“There is strong alignment between the Presidential Regulation and PP Tunas,” said Minister Arifah Fauzi.
She stated that strengthening regulation in the digital space is an important step to reduce the number of cases of violence against children. Based on internal analysis by the PPPA Ministry, unwise use of gadgets and social media has become one of the factors contributing to increased vulnerability of children in the digital space.
As a preventative measure, the PPPA Ministry is also promoting stronger family parenting through the Indonesian Shared Space programme (Ruang Bersama Indonesia/RBI). This village-based programme involves women at the community level, PKK cadres, and various community elements, to strengthen parenting and supervision of children.
