The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has reaffirmed that freight transport entrepreneurs, vehicle owners, and drivers must comply with the policy restricting the operation of trucks with three or more axles during the 2026 Eid transport period.

During an inspection of the North Coast highway (Pantura) in West Java on Sunday, 15 March 2026, Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the restrictions are detailed in a Joint Decision Letter (SKB) issued by Kemenhub, the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and the Ministry of Public Works.

“Based on the SKB, trucks with three or more axles are prohibited from travelling on toll roads or non-toll roads during the Eid transport period, starting Friday, 13 March 2026 at 12:00 local time until Sunday, 29 March 2026 at 24:00 local time,” said Dudy.

The Transportation Minister explained that the restrictions are being imposed to provide space for millions of people undertaking the traditional journey home for Eid to travel more safely, securely, smoothly, and comfortably.

He emphasised that only certain cargo vehicles are exempt, including vehicles transporting petroleum fuel, basic necessities, fertiliser, livestock, and other vital supplies.

“If they do not fall into these categories, trucks with three or more axles should not operate during the restriction period,” Dudy said.

Nevertheless, the Transportation Minister noted that some trucks with three or more axles continued to operate on toll roads during the 2026 Eid transport period.

Therefore, he urged all parties to comply with the established rules for traffic safety and smooth flow.

During inspections conducted from Saturday, 14 March 2026 evening through Sunday morning, the Transportation Minister halted several logistics vehicles that did not comply with the requirements for inspection.

“For those who violate the rules, we will collaborate with the Traffic Police to take firm action in the form of penalties. This is being done for the safety of people returning home to their villages to celebrate Eid,” Dudy said.

The Transportation Minister also called on all parties to support the smooth operation of Eid transport services.

According to him, without traffic management and restrictions on freight vehicle operations, severe congestion could occur and cause greater economic losses, including delays in goods distribution.
