Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is preparing 401 buses for the free homecoming program during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation period, which will be accessible to the public starting March 1, 2026.

The Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, in Jakarta on Wednesday, said that the number of buses can accommodate 15,834 passengers for both the outbound and return trips.

“Registration will open on March 1, 2026, online through the nusantara.kemenhub.go.id website. Registration will be closed when the entire quota has been met,” said Aan.

The free homecoming program for land transportation this year is open to 34 destination cities in 10 provinces, including Palembang, Lampung, Bengkulu, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Garut, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon, Kuningan, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, Purwokerto, and Tegal.

In addition, there are Pekalongan, Demak, Boyolali, Klaten, Pati, Blora, Cilacap, Wonosobo, Kebumen, Magelang, Wonosari, Jepara, Sragen, Madiun, Surabaya, Tuban, Malang, and Tulungagung.

Meanwhile, for the return trip, departures will be from 12 cities in 8 provinces, including Kuningan, Madiun, Surabaya, Palembang, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto.

“In addition, we also provide eight trucks for transporting motorcycles for travelers who will return to their hometowns by motorcycle. These trucks can accommodate 240 motorcycles,” said Aan.

The cities on the outbound and return trips that include motorcycle transport are Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto.

Furthermore, he explained that the departure times for the outbound trip are divided into three days at five locations, namely on March 16, 2026, from the Pondok Cabe Terminal, South Tangerang, on March 17, 2026, from the Jatijajar Terminal, Depok, and the Pulogebang Terminal, Jakarta.

Meanwhile, on March 18, 2026, there will be departures from the Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Jakarta, and the Poris Plawad Terminal, Tangerang.

For the buses on the return trip, departures will be on March 25, 2026, from the Bulupitu Terminal, Purwokerto, the Mangkang Terminal, Semarang, the Giwangan Terminal, Yogyakarta, the Tirtonandi Terminal, Solo, the Giri Adipura Terminal, Wonogiri, the Kertawangunan Terminal, Kuningan, the Purboyo Terminal, Madiun, the Bungurasih Terminal, Surabaya, the Alang-Alang Lebar Terminal, Palembang, the Anak Air Terminal, Padang, the Amplas Terminal, Medan, and the Batoh Terminal, Aceh.

Then, for the delivery of motorcycles on the outbound trip, it will be carried out on March 16, 2026, at the Pondok Cabe Terminal, South Tangerang, and will depart on the evening of March 16, 2026, from the same location.

“We also ensure that the free homecoming buses that will be dispatched have carried out safety inspections or ramp checks,” he said.

He said that this is done to ensure and guarantee that the condition of the buses and drivers are in good condition so that it is hoped that all passengers can arrive safely and comfortably at their hometowns.

Aan hopes that the free homecoming program will help people who need it, especially to maintain good relations with family in their hometowns, so that the program can be used as well as possible.

The Ministry of Transportation also appreciates the Ministries/Agencies/private parties that also organize free homecoming programs. From the many free homecoming programs, the Ministry of Transportation encourages the public to register for only one free homecoming program so that there is no duplication of registrants in the various programs.

“So that each quota can be used by travelers who really need it,” said Aan.
