Ministry of Transportation summons Green SM over train accident in East Bekasi
The Directorate General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat) of the Ministry of Transportation has summoned the management of Green SM taxi operator in response to the collision incident between the Commuter Line train and a long-distance train at Bekasi Timur Station, West Java, on Monday (27/4) night.
“As a follow-up to the incident, Ditjen Perhubungan Darat has summoned the management of Xanh SM or Green SM today, Tuesday (28/4), for post-accident clarification,” said the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, in a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He stated that his side has formed a special team to investigate the involvement of the Xanh SM taxi, including its licensing, administrative completeness, fulfilment of safety standards, and compliance with public transport operational regulations.
“Our principle is clear: public safety is the priority, so any potential violations will be addressed according to the provisions,” Aan explained.
Aan said that based on data in the Siprajab application, the taxi vehicle involved in the accident with licence plate B 2864 SBX is registered and has a valid supervision card until 28 October 2026.
“The taxi vehicle is registered to provide regular taxi services in the Jabodetabek area,” he said.
Nevertheless, Ditjen Hubdat is still conducting further investigations to ensure the operator’s compliance with all applicable regulations.
It is known that the Green SM taxi company already holds a Company Public Transport Safety Management System (SMK PAU) certificate valid for five years.
“Next, we will re-audit the elements of the safety management standards that public transport companies are required to meet,” Aan said.
The Ministry of Transportation will review how the safety management standards are implemented in the field by the company.
“Including the company’s obligations to ensure that vehicles, drivers, and operational systems meet safety aspects,” Aan revealed.
In addition, he continued, his side will conduct clarifications, in-depth investigations, and take action if violations of the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number PM 85 of 2018 on the Public Transport Company Safety Management System and PM 117 of 2018 on Non-Route Passenger Transport Services are proven.
He said administrative sanctions are not impossible to impose according to the level of violation, ranging from warning letters, temporary licence suspensions, to licence revocations.
“We will see if there are violations of public transport operational regulations, then administrative sanctions will be given proportionally in accordance with the existing rules,” he said.
“We are firm in conducting further examinations and the involvement of the Green SM taxi in this accident. The results of the investigation will later serve as the basis for determining the next steps,” Aan added.
The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation expressed deep condolences for the accident involving the Cikarang KRL and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) night.
“May the deceased victims receive the best place by His side, and the injured victims be granted speedy recovery,” said Aan.
