Ministry of Transportation Signs Concession Addendum for Tanjung Priok Port and Nipa Island Waters

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation has signed an addendum to the concession agreement for port services at Tanjung Priok Port and operations in specific waters around Nipa Island, Singapore Strait, to strengthen the management and services in the national port sector.

This agreement aims to improve the quality of port services and optimise state revenues in the maritime sector. The signing took place in the Sriwijaya Room at the Ministry of Transportation building in Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

“This agreement covers the Third Addendum to the Concession Agreement for Port Services at Tanjung Priok Port and the Concession Agreement for Operations in Specific Waters around Nipa Island, Singapore Strait,” said Director General of Sea Transportation, Muhammad Masyhud, in an official statement.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Transportation’s leadership, I appreciate the holding of this event as a manifestation of our joint commitment to strengthening the quantity and quality of services, as well as increasing the efficiency of port services,” Masyhud stated.

He added that this agreement has a direct impact on the country’s economic contribution.

“The implementation of this can increase state revenues through concession payments as Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP),” he said.

“This is in line with our efforts to support the optimisation of tasks and functions in the regulation, control, and supervision of port activities,” he added.

Meanwhile, for the strategic area in the waters around Nipa Island, Singapore Strait, the concession is granted through an assignment mechanism to PT Pelindo for a period of 32 years.

The concession revenue set for this area is 7 percent of gross revenue. This is certainly in accordance with the fairness review that has been conducted by BPKP.

“With the signing of these two agreements, we hope to improve services to users that are more efficient and competitive while prioritising navigation safety and security,” Masyhud continued.

Masyhud also emphasised the importance of active and ongoing coordination between Port Business Entities (BUP) and Port Operators to ensure smooth operations in accordance with applicable regulations.

The event was attended by the board of directors of PT Pelindo (Persero), officials from the Ministry of Transportation, and related stakeholders in the sea transportation sector.
