Ministry of Transportation Launches Free Homecoming for People with Disabilities at Kampung Rambutan Terminal
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) released the departure of participants in the child- and disability-friendly homecoming programme from the Type A Kampung Rambutan Terminal in East Jakarta on Wednesday.
Today’s departure includes two special buses for people with disabilities heading to Palembang and Solo, with a total of 88 homecomers. Secretary General of Kemenhub Arif Toha Tjahjagama stated that this free homecoming programme aims to alleviate homecoming costs for the public and reduce accident risks.
“This programme is not only intended to assist the public, more specifically those with special needs, so they can undertake homecoming journeys at more affordable costs, but also to reduce the use of motorcycles for long-distance travel, which carries a high risk of traffic accidents,” said Arif in Jakarta on Wednesday.
To participate in the free homecoming programme, participants have filled out forms distributed through disability communities. Successfully registered participants will receive free round-trip homecoming tickets.
In addition to today’s departure from the Type A Kampung Rambutan Terminal, the Child- and Disability-Friendly Homecoming release using aircraft was held at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on 13 March 2026.
Upcoming, the 2026 Child- and Disability-Friendly Homecoming release using trains will take place at Pasar Senen Station.
For the 2026 Free Road Transport Homecoming Programme, Kemenhub has allocated a quota of 15,834 passengers and the transport of 240 motorcycles to be sent to 34 destination cities across various provinces in Java and Sumatra.
“I advise that during the journey, you all maintain your health, comply with the instructions of the officers, and keep order while travelling. May your homecoming journeys proceed smoothly, safely, and without incident until you arrive at your respective hometowns,” said Arif.
