Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat) of the Ministry of Transportation has dispatched 4,270 Lebaran 1447 Hijriah return trip participants using 100 bus units from regions in Java and Sumatra. “4,270 return trip participants have been dispatched free of charge with 100 bus units on Java and Sumatra islands,” said Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. Aan explained that the dispatch of free road transport return trip participants for 2026 was carried out from 12 cities in various regions of Indonesia to destinations in Jakarta, Depok, and Tangerang (Jadeta). The dispatches were conducted from 12 terminals, including Terminal Tipe A (TTA) Kertawangunan, Kuningan; TTA Mangkang, Semarang; TTA Purboyo, Madiun; TTA Purabaya and Surabaya. Then TTA Anak Air, Padang; TTA Alang-Alang Lebar, Palembang; TTA Batoh, Aceh; TTA Amplas, Medan; TTA Tirtonadi, Solo; TTA Giwangan, Yogyakarta; TTA Giri Adipura, Wonogiri; as well as TTA Bulupitu and Purwokerto. “The government is facilitating the free return trip programme to ensure the safety and smoothness of public travel during the Lebaran transport period 2026,” he said. In addition, the programme also aims to reduce the use of motorcycles for long-distance journeys that have a relatively high risk of traffic accidents. “During this return flow period, public mobility is still high, therefore not only for the outbound trip, we are also organising a free return trip programme, so that public travel can proceed more safely, orderly, and comfortably,” Aan stated. He added that the programme is a manifestation of the state’s presence in providing services and easing the burden on the public during the Lebaran homecoming period. In addition, the Ministry of Transportation also dispatched 120 motorcycles using four trucks in the free return trip programme conducted at four locations, namely TTA Bulupitu, Purwokerto; TTA Giwangan, Yogyakarta; TTA Tirtonadi, Solo; and TTA Giri Adipura, Wonogiri. Through the free return trip programme, Aan continued, it is hoped that the public’s return journey to their places of work can proceed more safely, comfortably, smoothly, and well-coordinated. “So they can return to work or school, and other activities with renewed spirit after celebrating Lebaran in their hometowns,” said Aan. He also urged participants in the free return trip programme to always comply with the instructions of the officers and maintain order during the journey. The same was emphasised to the bus drivers operating the fleet in the free return trip programme to continue maintaining their health and obeying traffic signs.
