JAKARTA — The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), through the Directorate General of Land Transportation, departed participants of the return flow for the Free Road Transport Homecoming Programme 2026 from 12 cities across various regions of Indonesia to Jakarta, Depok, and Tangerang (Jadeta) on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

On the previous day, the government had also departed a number of motorcycles in the free return flow programme for two-wheeled vehicles from four terminals on Java Island.

Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan stated that the free return flow programme is facilitated by the government to ensure the safety and smoothness of public travel during the 2026 Eid Transport period.

“During this return flow period, public mobility levels remain high, therefore not only for the outbound homecoming, we are also organising the free return flow programme, so that public journeys proceed in a safer, more orderly, and comfortable manner,” said Aan in a press release on Thursday (26/3/2026).

“This is a manifestation of the state’s presence in providing transportation services to the public as well as to lighten the burden on the public during this Eid homecoming period,” Aan added.

A total of 4,270 free return flow participants were departed using 100 buses from 12 terminals on Java and Sumatra islands.

Meanwhile, the handover and departure of motorcycles in the free return flow programme was also carried out.

A total of 120 motorcycles were transported using four trucks from four locations, namely TTA Bulupitu in Purwokerto, TTA Giwangan in Yogyakarta, TTA Tirtonadi in Solo, and TTA Giri Adipura in Wonogiri.

Aan conveyed that the free return flow programme is expected to help the public return to their places of work with more coordinated journeys.

“Through the free return flow programme, it is hoped that the public’s return journey to their places of work can proceed in a safer, more comfortable, smooth, and well-coordinated manner. Thus, they can return to work or school, and other activities with renewed spirit after celebrating Eid in their hometowns,” he said.

In addition, Aan also urged participants of the free return flow programme to comply with instructions from officials and maintain order during the journey.

Similar appeals were also made to bus drivers operating the fleet in the programme to maintain their health conditions and comply with traffic signs.
