We continue to encourage the strengthening of security at transport hubs and corridors, and the control of areas prone to congestion and traffic jams. Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Transportation is strengthening security at all transport hubs during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transport period, to ensure smooth operations, improve safety and anticipate an increase in public mobility. “We continue to encourage the strengthening of security at transport hubs and corridors, and the control of areas prone to congestion and traffic jams,” said Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. In addition, the ministry is also increasing security at vital national objects, enhancing integrated security during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transport period, strengthening preparedness in disaster-prone areas, and implementing weather modification operations. To achieve this, the Minister of Transportation is collaborating with various parties, including the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. He said he had met directly with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Djamari Chaniago, as a collaborative step to ensure that every policy and strategic measure in the field of transportation is in line with national stability and security policies. “Including during the implementation of the Eid al-Fitr transport, so coordination is needed to create better synchronisation between policymakers in ensuring the smooth implementation of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transport,” he said. The Minister of Transportation said that the movement of people, which is predicted to reach more than 143 million during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period, needs maximum attention, especially in congested corridors such as the Trans-Java toll road and the Merak-Bakauheni and Ketapang-Gilimanuk routes. In addition, anticipation is also needed for the surge in public mobility at tourist attractions, shopping centres and other public areas that have the potential to cause traffic congestion and security disturbances. In terms of monitoring vital national objects, coordination is carried out to ensure protection of critical infrastructure such as ports, airports, toll road networks, railway lines and other vital transport facilities. “For integrated security, we coordinate in the deployment of Polri (National Police), TNI (National Armed Forces) personnel and other security elements at points prone to congestion, including rest areas, to maintain security, order and prevent criminal acts,” continued the Minister of Transportation. Furthermore, facilities in disaster-prone areas are also being prepared, especially the preparedness of security elements and disaster management in vulnerable areas that have the potential to disrupt public mobility. If necessary, the government ensures the integration of the implementation of Weather Modification Operations between the BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency), BNPB (National Disaster Management Agency), TNI AU (Air Force), Polri (National Police), related ministries/agencies, and local governments to guarantee the readiness of personnel, equipment and operational areas at strategic transport hubs and corridors. “We hope that, through this solid synergy, the implementation of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transport can run safely, smoothly and in an orderly manner so that our people can carry out their homecoming and return journeys safely, comfortably and securely,” said the Minister of Transportation.
