Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) through the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority Implementation Agency (BPOLBF) has ensured that all tourism destinations in Labuan Bajo and surrounding areas are ready to receive visitors and serve as a primary choice for Eid holiday activities in 2026. This confirmation was obtained through monitoring activities conducted on 15–16 March 2026 at several leading destinations in West Manggarai Regency.

The BPOLBF inspected mainland destinations including Batu Cermin Cave and Rangko Cave. The inspection results showed that tourism facilities, accessibility, area cleanliness, and manager readiness were in optimal condition to welcome increased tourist visits during the Eid holiday break.

Monitoring continued in the Komodo National Park area by visiting Padar Island, Pink Beach, and Loh Liang. These destinations were assessed to have met readiness standards in terms of management, visitor facilities, and tourism service systems.

Beyond destinations, the BPOLBF also inspected Eid posts in the Marina Labuan Bajo area, activated by the Class III Port Authority Office of Labuan Bajo, and posts at the airport by the Class II Airport Operations Unit Office of Komodo. These posts were deemed crucial in ensuring smooth mobility for tourists and residents during the Eid holiday period.

The inspection also covered the culinary area of Kampung Ujung, which is increasingly well-organised as a centre for evening tourism activities and supporting more comprehensive tourism experiences.

Acting Director General of BPOLBF, Andhy Marpaung, emphasised that all inspected destinations were in ready and suitable condition to serve as tourism choices during the Eid holiday break.

“Overall, all tourism destinations in Labuan Bajo and West Manggarai are ready to receive tourists. Not only ready, but also suitable to be the destination of choice for Eid holiday activities in 2026, with tourism experiences that are safe, comfortable, and of high quality,” he said.

He added that monitoring was also utilised to engage with tourism practitioners to gather input and strengthen cross-sector coordination.

“Collaboration between stakeholders is key. From the discussions, there is considerable optimism among tourism operators, with shared commitment to maintain service quality during the Eid holiday period,” he added.

INCREASINGLY MATURE READINESS

The BPOLBF monitoring results showed increasingly mature readiness for Labuan Bajo as a super priority destination. All inspected destinations were not only physically ready but also demonstrated improvements in governance and service quality.

Komodo National Park remained the main draw with increasingly well-maintained conservation-based management. Meanwhile, mainland destinations and supporting areas such as Kampung Ujung provided more diverse tourism activities for visitors.

With consistent readiness across various points, Labuan Bajo has strong competitiveness as an Eid holiday destination. The future challenge lies in service consistency during peak visits, particularly in managing tourist capacity and area cleanliness.

However, overall, Labuan Bajo was assessed as not only ready to receive increased tourist numbers but also worthy of being selected as a primary destination for spending the Eid holiday in 2026 with quality tourism experiences.
