Ministry of Tourism Enhances Capacity of Tourism Sector Human Resources
Jakarta — The Ministry of Tourism is increasing the capacity of human resources in the tourism sector through the organisation of a Stakeholder Meeting to realise quality and sustainable tourism.
The Deputy for Resources and Institutional Affairs at the Ministry of Tourism, Martini M. Paham, stated that the tourism sector plays an important role in supporting Indonesia’s Golden 2045 vision and national policy direction, including the President’s Asta Cita priorities.
“Amid global dynamics characterised by VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity), civil service apparatus must continuously enhance their competencies, professionalism, and competitiveness to respond adaptively to change and ensure sustainable tourism sector development,” Paham said in a press statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
The Stakeholder Meeting, held online on Thursday (26 February), was attended by approximately 1,000 participants via Zoom Meeting and 382 participants through YouTube, comprising representatives from provincial, regency, and municipal tourism and/or creative economy offices, as well as regional human resource development institutions from all 38 provinces across Indonesia.
Andar Danova L. Goeltom, Assistant Deputy for Civil Service Human Resource Capacity Enhancement and Vocational Education at the Ministry of Tourism, added that one critical aspect of improving apparatus human resource quality is cross-unit coordination between central and regional levels to ensure optimal programme implementation.
Coordination can be conducted formally through letters addressed to the Assistant Deputy for Civil Service Human Resource Capacity Enhancement and Vocational Education, or informally through digital communication channels such as WhatsApp Halo Adyatama, as well as online and in-person meetings.
The Ministry of Tourism has established a Ministerial Guideline on Competency-Based Technical Training in Tourism for Civil Service Personnel. “This guideline can serve as a reference for training implementation at central and regional educational and training institutions, covering training planning and implementation, coaching, monitoring and evaluation, accreditation of training providers, and application of technical competency standards in tourism,” said Andar.
Going forward, capacity enhancement will focus on accelerating competency development and training accreditation in alignment with the Grand Design of Civil Service Management 2045 and core civil service values of BerAKHLAK.
“This will certainly require active collaborative support from all central and regional educational and training institutions,” he added.
