Ministry of Tourism: Bali remains stable despite Middle East conflict
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism said that Bali’s tourism conditions in recent weeks remained stable despite the global geopolitical situation, including the Middle East dynamics which continue to attract world attention.
‘Global developments we monitor very seriously. However, field data shows Bali’s tourism performance in the past few weeks remains stable, with hotel occupancy rates held steady. This indicates that Bali remains a trusted and sought-after destination for travellers worldwide,’ said Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana in a statement confirmed in Jakarta, on Thursday.
Widiyanti said the government would continue to monitor international developments carefully, particularly regarding potential impacts on global tourist mobility.
Regarding Bali, based on government monitoring results, tourism activity in the province is still running well and hotel occupancy remains at a healthy level.
Data compiled by the Ministry of Tourism from industry as of 4 January 2026, in Badung Regency, Bali’s main tourist hub, show that about 52 percent of hotels were at occupancy levels of 41 to 69 percent, while 36 percent had reached 70 to 80 percent occupancy.
According to her, the data indicate that the majority of properties remain in the mid-to-high occupancy category, signalling relatively strong market performance.
Meanwhile, in Gianyar Regency, about 53.8 percent of hotels were at occupancy 41 to 69 percent, with 23.1 percent at 70 to 80 percent, and a small portion reaching 81 to 100 percent.
Although occupancy levels vary across properties, overall tourism activity was broadly stable.
She also stated that the government would continue to coordinate with tourism industry players and strengthen marketing strategies in major markets to ensure the sustainability of the national tourism sector’s performance.
‘The Ministry of Tourism is optimistic that, with the appeal of the destination, the quality of the tourist experience, and close cooperation between government and industry, Indonesia remains in a strong position as a destination of choice for global travellers amid evolving global dynamics,’ she said.
