Ministry of Social Affairs Ready to Provide Assistance to Families of Victims in East Bekasi Train Accident
JAKARTA – The Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is prepared to provide assistance to the families of victims in the tragedy involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf conveyed that the support will focus on accompanying the victims’ families through comprehensive assessments and identifying their needs. “For the accident victims, we will certainly assess the victims’ families. If there are any requiring accompaniment, support, or empowerment, we will assist according to their needs,” said Saifullah at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (29/4/2026). Although compensation is guaranteed by insurance, Kemensos assures that the state will still be present to provide additional support for the victims’ families. “For compensation to the heirs, there is usually already a mechanism through insurance. But for the victims’ families, God willing, we will provide support based on the assessment results,” said Gus Ipul.
