Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Rp100.9 Billion in Aid to Disaster Survivors in East Aceh
Jakarta — The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has distributed financial assistance worth Rp100.9 billion to support the recovery of various aspects of life for residents affected by natural disasters in East Aceh Regency.
The financial aid was symbolically handed over by Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf together with Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian at an aid distribution ceremony held at the East Aceh Regent’s Hall in Kampung Jawa, Idi Rayeuk District, East Aceh, on Monday.
“It is hoped that this aid will genuinely support household recovery, both in terms of home infrastructure and later economic recovery,” said Minister Saifullah Yusuf to the media following the aid distribution.
According to the Social Affairs Minister, the assistance provided by the government to families affected by the disaster is of considerable value. If calculated, he stated, the aid value for each family could reach Rp60 million.
“So one family can receive Rp60 million plus Rp13.4 million,” said Minister Saifullah Yusuf.
The minister stated that aid distribution is based on data from the East Aceh Regional Government, which already possesses accurate and verified data. “The data is also dynamic and will continue to grow,” he said.
The ministry will distribute the aid in stages based on verified data, following the principle that the faster the better.
Aid is distributed through three methods: direct distribution to beneficiary families who come to PT Pos Indonesia, delivery in communities such as villages, or at the homes of agreed-upon community leaders.
For elderly residents whose condition does not permit them to collect aid directly, PT Pos Indonesia will visit their individual homes.
“We hope this will be well understood. Specifically in Aceh, aid is distributed through PT Pos Indonesia so that it is faster and can be easily accessed directly by beneficiaries,” said Minister Saifullah Yusuf.
The Minister of Social Affairs urged each beneficiary to use the aid as effectively as possible in accordance with its intended purpose for the recovery from the natural disaster.
