Malalak, Agam Regency (ANTARA) — The Ministry of Social Affairs has allocated 192 food aid packages to residents affected by landslides and flash floods in Malalak District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra.

“New assistance arrived this afternoon from the Agam Regency Social Services Office, originating from the Ministry of Social Affairs, for 192 households (heads of family) affected by the disaster in Malalak District,” said Malalak District Head Ulya Satar, speaking at his office after collecting the food aid packages on Monday.

Ulya explained that the post-disaster support aid packages consist of 425-gramme tinned sardines, 400-millilitre cooking oil, and 5 kilograms of rice.

The assistance will be distributed on Tuesday (17 March) and will be distributed directly to all residents affected by the disaster, regardless of whether they suffered light, moderate, or severe damage, or whether their homes are located in a red zone or threatened area.

“We will distribute it tomorrow because tomorrow is our last working day before Eid al-Fitr. So we hope that this assistance can be directly utilised by the community for Eid al-Fitr,” he said.

Regarding special Eid stimulus, the district head stated that the previous week the local government had distributed cash assistance totalling 750,000 rupiah to 192 households affected by the disaster.

In addition to food aid and special Eid stimulus, Ulya stated that affected residents have also received a living allowance from the government of 450,000 rupiah per month, which will be provided for three months to each affected individual.
