The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has recorded approximately 7,400 potholes across national-level roads in West Java. Rina Kumala Sari, head of the Greater Jakarta-West Java National Road Implementation Centre, Directorate General of Road Development at the Ministry of Public Works, stated that road patching is targeted for completion within the next two days.

“As of now, 226 potholes remain, with 131 still present on the Pantura (Java North Coast),” she said when met at the Motor Vehicle Testing Service office in Cirebon City, Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Rina indicated that the potholes are scattered across various locations. The damaged roads are affected by extreme weather conditions and heavy vehicle traffic, particularly along the Pantura route.

The Greater Jakarta-West Java National Road Implementation Centre has accelerated patching efforts, including new potholes that emerge, using ready-made asphalt without requiring complicated processes typical of conventional methods. This process is commonly referred to as Rapid and Solid Patching (TCM) by staff at the Directorate General of Road Development.

“Thus, our commitment to ensure safe road conditions with no potholes is being implemented,” said Rina.

Road improvements are also part of preparations for the Eid exodus. National routes in Jakarta and West Java that will be used by returning travellers span 1,782.65 kilometres across 256 segments, with 844 bridges totalling 32,811.89 kilometres.

West Java, according to Rina, has northern (Pantura), central, and southern routes. Repairs on the northern route stand at 99.82 per cent, the central route at 97.37 per cent, and the southern route at 97.71 per cent.

“Overall, the condition standard of national roads in West Java Province based on the second semester 2025 survey results is 97.77 per cent,” she said.

The Greater Jakarta-West Java National Road Implementation Centre has established 33 rest posts for travellers to utilise for breaks. Various facilities are provided, including toilets, prayer rooms, children’s play areas, and nursing mother facilities. The posts are open to the public 24 hours.
