Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) – Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo disclosed the timeline of the resignations of two Director-Generals (Dirjen) at the Public Works Ministry: Dirjen of Housing and Land Affairs Dewi Chomistriana and Dirjen of Water Resources Dwi Purwantoro.

“So what was mentioned earlier regarding the two director-generals’ resignations is indeed accurate; it was an audit finding by the Financial Audit Agency (BPK). The BPK sent me two letters, as I recall, one in January 2025 and another in August 2025,” Hanggodo said in Semarang, Central Java on Sunday.

He stated that the BPK’s January 2025 letter indicated state financial losses of nearly 3 trillion rupiahs. Hanggodo then instructed his staff to follow up on the matter, but regrettably no action was taken.

Subsequently, the BPK sent a second letter to the Public Works Minister in August 2025. The letter indicated that the state financial losses had decreased from the initial nearly 3 trillion rupiahs to approximately 1 trillion rupiahs.

The second letter also contained several recommendations, including establishing an ad-hoc committee and forming teams at work units to accelerate the recovery of state losses caused by third parties. However, the Minister noted that no further action had been taken by Public Works Ministry staff.

“That is why I took over personally. We will establish an ad-hoc committee, we will form new teams at work units so that the recovery of state losses can be faster and does not interfere with the daily operations of the work units. Third, I will also reactivate the Audit Committee. Because in any case, we must all agree – I cannot clean my house if my broom is dirty,” Hanggodo said.

According to him, this step is necessary so that the work of the Inspector General improves significantly in the future.

Additionally, the establishment of these committees represents a follow-up to the mandate given by President Prabowo Subianto to Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo.

“This is why I am now implementing stricter measures. I have formed my own team, which I chair myself, and I formed that team myself. I consider the team I formed as a clean stick. A clean stick, not a broom – a clean stick that I still regard as a clean stick,” Hanggodo said.

He further noted that his approach has also received support from the Attorney General’s office, which has placed three prosecutors on the team established by the Public Works Minister.

“I am grateful for the assistance of the Attorney General. The Attorney General has placed three clean sticks in my team as well. So it cannot be said that the resignations were sudden; nor can it be said there was no prior process. When I started to use my clean sticks to work, the individuals in question (the Director-Generals of Housing and Water Resources) chose to resign. That is roughly how it happened,” said Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo.
