JAKARTA — The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has ensured the readiness of national non-toll road and toll road infrastructure to support the smooth flow of exodus and return traffic during the 2026 Eid holiday. This was communicated by Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo during a Working Session of Commission V of the House of Representatives together with the Ministry of Transportation, the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) regarding infrastructure and transportation service readiness ahead of the 2026 Eid exodus at the House of Representatives Building in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

“Various measures have been prepared to ensure that the condition of national non-toll roads, toll roads, and other supporting facilities are in good, safe and comfortable condition for the public to traverse,” said Dody in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Dody stated that the Ministry of Public Works is committed to ensuring infrastructure readiness and supporting services through the Public Works Minister Instruction Number 01 of 2026, which serves as a guideline for all work units in facing the Eid exodus period. In its implementation, said Dody, the Directorate General of Water Resources conducted monitoring of weather conditions and potential hydrometeorological disasters.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Highways ensured that road and bridge conditions remain good and accelerated the handling of any damage that occurs in the field. Dody conveyed that the Directorate General of Cipta Karya also provided support for sanitation facilities such as portable toilets and water tanker vehicles at public service points.

“Meanwhile, the General Secretariat strengthens public communication and integration of information systems,” added Dody.

Nationally, Dody stated that the national non-toll road network under the Ministry of Public Works’ responsibility reaches approximately 47,603 kilometres with a condition rating of 93.5 per cent distributed across all regions of Indonesia. He stated that these national non-toll roads are one of the backbone infrastructures for public mobility during the exodus period, particularly on major corridors in Java and Sumatra.

“Meanwhile, the operational toll road network currently reaches approximately 3,115 kilometres consisting of 76 toll road sections throughout Indonesia,” added Dody.
