The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has completed 222 Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) buildings spread across 30 provinces throughout Indonesia, including the most underdeveloped, frontier, and remote (3T) regions. In these 3T areas, two SPPGs were constructed within the Wini and Motamasin Integrated Border Posts (PLBN) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The SPPG at PLBN Wini was built on a site of 1,408.63 m² in North Timor Tengah Utara Regency, while the SPlo SPPG at PLBN Motamasin occupies 1,469.12 m² in Malaka Regency.

Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggarda, explained that the locations for these Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) kitchens were determined through coordination with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry of Public Works was tasked with surveying land readiness and accelerating the construction process to meet established targets. “We have completed approximately 222 SPPGs, some of which are in 3T regions. The specific locations were coordinated directly with the BGN and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Our role was to survey whether the land was ready for immediate construction, as we are working towards strict targets,” Dody stated during an infrastructure update briefing in Jakarta on Friday.

He noted that the process of handing over the assets to the BGN is currently underway. Before the official handover, the BGN is expected to inspect each SPPG facility to ensure all buildings are ready for use. “The handover process with the BGN is ongoing. The BGN will likely check them one by one, but the construction is entirely complete,” he added.

The Minister also mentioned plans to coordinate with the new leadership of the BGN in the near future to ensure the optimal utilisation and operation of all SPPGs. The units built by the Ministry of Public Works feature main kitchens, washing areas for tools and ingredients, dry and wet warehouses, equipment storage, parking areas, clean water networks, and Wastewater Treatment Plants (IPAL) to ensure hygiene standards and environmental sustainability. Additionally, supporting infrastructure such as panel rooms and waste disposal sites (TPS) are provided. The presence of these SPPGs is expected to expand the reach of nutritious food services to communities, including those in areas that have historically faced limited access.
