Ministry of Public Works Accelerates National Road Repairs in Cianjur and Sukabumi Ahead of Eid Exodus
The Ministry of Public Works is accelerating maintenance and repairs of national road infrastructure in Cianjur District, West Java, to prepare for the Eid al-Fitr exodus in 1447 Hijriah.
Agus Warso, Field Supervision Coordinator of the PPK 2.1 Work Unit for National Road Implementation in West Java Region under the Ministry of Public Works, stated that the Public Works Minister has instructed that all national road sections must be in good condition ahead of the Eid exodus. At minimum, repairs to damaged roads must be completed by H-7, or one week before Eid.
“We are implementing road overlays in preparation for the Eid exodus. The Minister’s instruction is that by H-7, national road routes must achieve zero potholes,” Agus said on Tuesday (3 March).
The PPK 2.1 work area in West Java covers the region from the border of West Bandung District with Cianjur District extending to Cibadak District in Sukabumi. One of the road sections receiving repairs is the Eastern Ring Road.
Road conditions at this location have frequently been a source of public complaint, with numerous potholes at various locations posing a safety threat.
“In this ring road section in Cianjur, there are several points where we are implementing overlays. Our target at PPK 2.1 West Java is to complete all work by H-10 to provide safety and comfort for travellers heading out for Eid,” he said.
Agus acknowledged that rain or extreme weather could trigger additional road damage. However, he assured that his team would respond quickly to any repairs needed.
“There are several factors causing road damage. The primary one is rainfall, but there are also cases where vehicle weight exceeds limits or cargo is overloaded,” he concluded.
The National Road Implementation Work Unit for West Java Region II will establish command posts during the Eid exodus period, to be located in the Cibolang area of Cisaat District in Sukabumi or at the Bocimi Toll Exit Section 3.
