Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is prepared to strengthen the verification and validation process for the Basic Education Data System (Dapodik) in order to enhance the accuracy and consistency of information uploaded against actual field conditions.

The Secretary-General of Kemendikdasmen, Suharti, stated that numerous educational units have submitted inaccurate data and information regarding their respective conditions within the Dapodik system because they are concerned this could undermine their institutional accreditation.

“There is indeed data in Dapodik that does not match actual conditions. So, because schools are worried their accreditation will not be good,” said Suharti during a Policy Dialogue session held by Kemendikdasmen in South Tangerang, Banten Province on Monday.

As a result, she noted, many schools that actually have damaged classroom conditions have reported them as being in good condition within the Dapodik system.

Furthermore, Kemendikdasmen now requires schools to conduct re-validation regarding their respective building conditions, particularly for those requiring government support through the Educational Unit Revitalisation Programme.

“So we are conducting a re-validation of educational units whose conditions genuinely require government attention, in conjunction with this revitalisation programme,” she added.

She further explained that Kemendikdasmen’s educational unit revitalisation programme this year is prepared to target approximately 71,000 schools, with priority given to schools affected by natural disasters as well as those in frontier, outermost and least-developed regions (3T areas).

“We are paying close attention to 3T regions, as well as schools whose conditions are severely damaged,” said Suharti.

For schools requiring only minor repairs, Kemendikdasmen has requested that school authorities utilise school operational assistance funds (BOS) to carry out improvements.
