Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Population and Family Planning (Kemendukbangga) is collaborating with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates through the preparation of the Population and Family Planning Roadmap (PJPK).

“God willing, we will have cooperation on PJPK issues; to achieve the targets that need to be met, we must certainly improve in the future, for example, reproductive health, how to reduce the numbers of maternal and child deaths, and then how to reduce the number of stunting cases,” said the Minister of Population and Family Planning (Mendukbangga) Wihaji during the inauguration of the UNFPA office at the Kemendukbangga/BKKBN building, East Jakarta, Wednesday.

In addition to reducing maternal and child mortality rates, Kemendukbangga/BKKBN will also cooperate with UNFPA on other issues related to mental health.

“In this world, there are things that we must discuss with the TFR, which tends to decrease in almost all countries. Our concept is balanced growth. Therefore, this must be discussed and cooperated on to synergize programs in order to address potential problems that will arise in relation to population issues,” said Mendukbangga Wihaji.

“We have a very ambitious national program for five years, which I believe will contribute to the grand vision for Indonesia in 2045. Basically, our dream is a dream of Indonesia without maternal deaths, without gender-based violence, through better family planning,” said Aleksander.

Through the joint strategic plan with Kemendukbangga/BKKBN, he said, UNFPA is also continuing to strive to capitalize on the demographic bonus or prepare the demographic dividend towards a more qualified Indonesian workforce in 2045.
