Ministry of Population and Family Development Supports Work from Home Policy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary of the Ministry of Population and Family Development (Sesmendukbangga)/Chief Secretary of BKKBN Budi Setiyono supports the work-from-home (WFH) policy, accompanied by an appeal to employees not to use private vehicles.
“We recommend that employees refrain from using private vehicles for at least the next two months. After that, an evaluation will be conducted. During this period, we hope employees will use public transport more, both for going to the office and other activities,” Budi said at the Kemendukbangga/BKKBN office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Budi stated that Kemendukbangga/BKKBN fully supports the President’s directives on efficiency by rescheduling employee work hours, allowing them to work from home or elsewhere once a week.
“So, they do not always have to go to the office and do not have to use private vehicles. The government has set a minimum of one day per week on Fridays, as a day when employees can work from their residence or other permitted locations, but of course while ensuring that public services and performance standards are not disrupted. Currently, we are arranging the implementation pattern,” he said.
In addition, Budi emphasised the importance of behavioural changes among employees, particularly Civil Servants (ASN), to be wiser in using energy to support the efficiency policy.
Furthermore, in line with the President’s instructions, Kemendukbangga/BKKBN will focus the budget on community needs. Meetings that can be conducted online will be shifted to be more flexible.
“Budgets previously used for meetings, such as hotel rentals or refreshments, will be reallocated to programmes whose benefits are directly felt by the community,” he stated.
The government has officially implemented the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) every Friday.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the policy will take effect from 1 April 2026 and will be evaluated after two months of implementation.
“The implementation of work from home for ASN in central and regional agencies, carried out for one working day per week, namely every Friday, is regulated through a circular letter (SE) from the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform and an SE from the Minister of Home Affairs,” Airlangga said.
