The world of work is changing very rapidly. Students need to equip themselves not only with academic abilities but also with adaptability, creativity, and a willingness to continue learning.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower through the Polytechnic of Manpower (Polteknaker) continues to strengthen the preparation of students to face digital transformation in the world of work, the development of artificial intelligence (AI), and opportunities in green jobs.

Acting Director General of Placement and Expansion of Employment Opportunities Development (Binapenta and PKK) of the Ministry of Manpower, Estiarty Haryani, stated that students need to prepare themselves from an early stage to adapt to changes in the world of work.

“The world of work is changing very rapidly. Students need to equip themselves not only with academic abilities but also with adaptability, creativity, and a willingness to continue learning,” said Estiarty in her statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She added that understanding industry needs is key so that graduates can be absorbed more quickly into the job market.

Along with these developments, the need for new competencies is also increasing.

Several professions that are in high demand include full stack engineers, data scientists, digital marketing specialists, social media managers, content creators, and human resources business partners.

Estiarty believes that young people need to understand that future career paths are becoming increasingly dynamic and not always linear.

She also emphasised the importance of balancing academic achievements with practical skills needed by industry, such as technology adaptation, communication, leadership, teamwork, and resilience in facing work challenges.

Meanwhile, Director of Polteknaker Yoki Yulizar stated that changes in the world of work are not only influenced by digitalisation and automation but also by the direction of sustainable development.

“The green economy is not only related to environmental issues but also concerns industry competitiveness and employment. When business models change, workforce needs also change,” said Yoki.
