Ministry of Industry Records Surge in Craft SME Exports, Demonstrating Strong Competitiveness
The Ministry of Industry has recorded a significant surge in the export performance of small and medium-sized industry (IKM) craft sector, serving as strong evidence that products from this sector are increasingly competitive and capable of competing in the global market.
According to the Ministry of Industry's Data and Information Centre, the value of craft exports in the third quarter of 2025 reached US$305.54 million, a sharp increase compared to the previous quarter's figure of US$173.5 million.
In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that government promotional support and facilitation, such as through the Inacraft exhibition, has been a key factor in strengthening the position of craft SMEs.
"Inacraft serves as a strategic platform for craft business operators to further expand their markets. The Ministry of Industry's facilitation and guidance for SMEs is a form of appreciation and pride in domestic products, as well as an effort to open broader promotional opportunities for domestic SMEs," said Agus.
As part of efforts to further boost craft SME export performance, the Ministry of Industry through the Directorate General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries (Ditjen IKMA) facilitated eight assisted SMEs to participate in the Inacraft 2026 Exhibition held at the Jakarta International Convention Centre from 4 to 8 February 2026.
Agus expressed optimism that support for exhibitions and promotions would strengthen the competitiveness of national SMEs through expanded market access, stronger branding, and the opening of sustainable partnership and business transaction opportunities.
"The selected SME operators come from various regions across Indonesia, so the products on display not only represent the highest quality standards and innovation from SME operators but also reflect the richness and cultural diversity of the archipelago," he said.
Director General of IKMA Reni Yanita explained that the eight facilitated SMEs were Karya Seni Tanduk, Lampung Ethnica, Manika Kaltim, Ragenda MOP Jewelry, Khyang Leather, Shamara, Kalaniwood, and D'moroy. Products on display included horn crafts, accessories, pearl jewellery, bags made from natural fibre and leather, fashion and weaving products, as well as crafts made from wood waste supporting environmental sustainability.
"The Directorate General of IKMA facilitated the provision of booths within a single island. We hope that with this support, SMEs can deploy their full potential by recording high sales and strengthening their position in national and global markets through market expansion," said Reni.
She added that the exhibited products demonstrated improved creativity among SME operators in utilising local raw materials and adapting designs to market needs.
Reni also emphasised the importance of utilising high-value-added local materials to enhance the appeal of Indonesian craft products.
"Local raw materials combined with artistic touches and design aspects produce works of high commercial value. Therefore, we encourage SME operators to continue presenting innovative, creative products with strong character in order to enhance the appeal of Indonesian craft products in the eyes of both national and international consumers," she said.
During Inacraft 2026, total sales transactions from the eight facilitated SMEs reached Rp338.16 million. The data indicates strong market interest in SME craft products, whilst also confirming that exhibitions serve as an effective means of increasing product exposure and gauging market response.
