The domestic food and beverage industry has increased production capacity to anticipate surging demand during Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr.

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has emphasised that the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah plays a crucial role in safeguarding national economic stability whilst driving industrial sector performance.

Inspector General of Kemenperin M Rum stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that increased consumer spending during this period serves as a primary driver for various industrial sectors, particularly food and beverages, textiles, and ready-made clothing.

According to him, heightened consumer activity throughout Ramadhan through to the eve of Eid al-Fitr contributes significantly to economic stability through the movement of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the processing industry sector.

One industrial subsector experiencing a surge in demand ahead of Eid is the food and beverage industry, with capacity utilisation reaching 80 per cent.

In 2025, this sector contributed 52.09 per cent to non-oil and gas industrial gross domestic product (GDP) and 9 per cent to national GDP, with growth reaching 4.95 per cent.

In terms of international trade, the agro-industry, including food and beverages, recorded export values of $78.77 billion and imports of $21.19 billion, thus generating a trade balance surplus of $57.58 billion.

Additionally, investment realisation in the agro-industry sector in 2025 reached Rp191.7 trillion and succeeded in absorbing approximately 10 million workers through August 2025.

To strengthen the structure of the agro-industry, the government, according to him, continues to implement downstream processing policies based on domestic natural resources.

This programme is conducted by integrating upstream and downstream sectors within a single interconnected industrial ecosystem to produce high value-added products.

Through a region-based cluster approach, he said, flagship commodities such as cocoa, sago, and coconut are being directed towards processing into derivative products in the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and bioenergy sectors.

Kemenperin projects that this strategy will increase the value-added of commodities by hundreds of times compared to the sale of raw materials.

Furthermore, to support meeting public needs whilst increasing consumption of domestic products, Kemenperin is organising the 2026 Eid Bazaar taking place on 10–13 March 2026 at the Ministry of Industry’s Exhibition Plaza in Jakarta.

Acting Director General of Agro-Industry at Kemenperin Putu Juli Ardika stated that the event is expected to strengthen collaboration between government, the business community, and society in advancing the national agro-industry sector.

The Ministry’s Eid Bazaar this year involves 80 companies comprising large enterprises, medium-sized enterprises, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with diverse products being marketed.
