The government has reaffirmed its commitment to fully overseeing the recovery of activist Andrie Yunus, a victim of an acid attack, who is currently undergoing intensive treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).

Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai revealed that since 28 March 2026, the Ministry of Human Rights through its DKI Jakarta Regional Office has been closely monitoring the victim’s condition, including ensuring optimal medical handling.

“The victim is currently in the HCU room and has undergone integrated surgery with a primary focus on recovering the right eye,” Pigai said on Thursday (2/4).

However, the victim’s condition is not yet fully stable. The medical team has identified ischaemia around 40% that still requires further treatment and intensive supervision.

Beyond emergency care, the government is also preparing a long-term recovery scheme. As of 1 April 2026, the Ministry of Human Rights has coordinated with the Ministry of Health to ensure the continuity of therapy, including the optimisation of burn centre facilities.

“This step is important to ensure the rehabilitation process runs comprehensively and sustainably,” Pigai stated.

In terms of financing, the state is taking a firm stance. All treatment costs for the victim will be fully covered by the government.

“There is no cost burden on the victim. Health services are provided at zero cost,” he emphasised.

In addition to physical recovery, the state is also focusing on the legal aspect. The Ministry of Human Rights, together with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), is providing assistance to ensure the victim’s rights remain protected during the legal process.

Pigai emphasised that the state’s presence does not stop at the initial handling stage.

“We ensure the state is present until the victim is truly recovered, both medically and in terms of their rights as a citizen,” he concluded.
