Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas Allocates 19,668 BSPS Housing Units for North Sumatra
Medan (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) has allocated 19,668 units of Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) for the North Sumatra region (Sumut). Minister PKP Maruarar Sirait stated that the 2026 BSPS allocation consists of 8,825 units in rural areas, 5,525 units in coastal areas, and 5,285 units in urban areas. “Every state budget used in the programme must be utilised properly and in accordance with its purpose,” said Minister PKP Maruarar during an inspection in Toba Regency on Tuesday. Ara, as she is known, stated that in Toba there are 46 housing units proposed as BSPS recipients. This number is distributed across Balige Subdistrict with 20 units, Porsea Subdistrict with 14 units, and Bonatua Lunasi Subdistrict with 12 units. “Therefore, the public is urged to actively monitor and immediately report any illicit levies, accompanied by clear evidence such as videos and photos, and report it immediately to the PKP Ministry,” she said. During the working visit, Minister PKP directly observed the condition of residents’ homes proposed as aid recipients, while also engaging in dialogue with the community. “This step is taken to ensure that the BSPS programme truly targets those in need,” she stated. The Ministry of PKP stated that the implementation of the BSPS Programme in North Sumatra is planned to begin in the second week of April 2026. The programme is part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality of housing for Low-Income Communities (MBR) to make it more livable, healthy, and safe. Nationally, the BSPS Programme is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priorities with a target of 400,000 units across Indonesia, as a step to accelerate the handling of Uninhabitable Houses (RTLH), while also enhancing public welfare.
