Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Halts Discussion on 'Hajj Ticket War' Concept, Focuses on 2026 Hajj Preparations
Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf (Gus Irfan) stated that discussions on the Hajj ticket war concept have been temporarily halted. The Ministry of Hajj is currently focusing on the departure arrangements for the 2026 Hajj, which will take place in the near future.
“If it is considered too premature, we will close the discussion for now until today, while we complete our Hajj that is right in front of us,” said Gus Irfan during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
Gus Irfan mentioned that the ticket war concept was indeed a topic of internal discussion within the Ministry of Hajj. The concept was first proposed by him.
“I admit that the ticket war, this ticket war, is indeed a concept we are discussing in the Ministry of Hajj, and if asked who is responsible, I am the one who first introduced the term ticket war,” he stated.
Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Azhar Simanjuntak had previously explained the concept of the Hajj ticket war system. Dahnil said the system would enable pilgrims to depart without queuing.
The system would not disrupt the path for pilgrims who already have queues. Those who have queued will still be prioritised to depart to the Holy Land.
“The priority is first for those who have already queued. Those who have queued remain the first and primary,” said Dahnil to reporters on Sunday (12/4).
Dahnil noted that this concept emerged to resolve the queuing problem that has lasted for years. The Ministry of Hajj is very keen to address this Hajj queuing issue.
