Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) is ensuring public services in National Parks (TN) and Nature Tourism Parks (TWA) during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period adhere to zero waste and zero accident principles.

Director General of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems (KSDAE) of the Ministry of Forestry, Satyawan Pudyatmoko, stated in a press release received in Jakarta on Thursday that all Technical Implementation Units (UPT) of the Directorate General of KSDAE in the field have been instructed to enhance area security and conduct routine patrols to preserve forest sustainability during the long holiday period.

“Our preparations are based on six main aspects, ranging from managing carrying capacity to implementing cashless payments. We want to ensure that every visitor receives a smooth and safe tourism experience,” said Satyawan.

“The use of digital technology such as online booking has proven significant in accelerating services at entry points and reducing visitor crowds, thereby maintaining the zero accident principle and visitor comfort as our top priority,” he added.

Based on evaluations from the 2025 Nyepi and Eid holiday periods, a total of 421,683 tourists visited TN and TWA, with peak visits occurring in the three days following Eid. This high public interest also contributed to Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) reaching Rp15.8 billion.

Mountaineering activities were among the most popular, with mountains such as Leuser, Ciremai, Rinjani, and Bukit Kaba being the most visited locations. Additionally, conservation areas have become favourite spots for family halal bi halal events, offering a fresh atmosphere in open nature while introducing the environment to the younger generation.

It is recorded that among several Nature Tourism Attraction Objects (ODTWA), some remain open while others are closed for logical reasons to ensure the sustainability of nature tourism. Director General of KSDAE Satyawan assured that managers will continue to intensify rubbish patrols to support the zero waste movement.

Visitors are urged to always be disciplined in bringing back their rubbish and following safety guidelines from on-site officers to realise zero accidents as well as quality and sustainable nature tourism.
