The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) stated that 32 Indonesian nationals (WNI) evacuated from Iran are currently in Baku, Azerbaijan, and are scheduled to arrive in Indonesia today.

“The first wave is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (10 March), and we continue to monitor their schedule,” said Acting Director of WNI Protection at Kemlu, Heni Hamidah, to journalists on Monday evening (9 March 2026).

Hamidah said the Indonesian nationals are in good condition. However, the ministry continues to monitor their flight schedule.

“The Indonesian nationals are currently in Baku and all are in good health whilst awaiting their flight to Indonesia,” she said.

“We continue to monitor the flight schedule,” she added.

Hamidah stated there will be subsequent waves of evacuation of Indonesian nationals. However, she could not confirm the timing of the next evacuation.

“There will be subsequent evacuation waves. Regarding the numbers and timing of implementation, we are in intensive coordination with the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, which will adjust according to the actual situation on the ground,” she said.

Evacuation of Indonesian Nationals from Iran

Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had evacuated 32 Indonesian nationals in the first wave from Iran to return to Indonesia. Dozens of Indonesian nationals are now in Baku, Azerbaijan, awaiting their subsequent flight to Indonesia.

“Given the developments in the security and safety situation in Iran, the evacuation of Indonesian nationals from Iran will be carried out in phases. This phased evacuation will use the Iran-Azerbaijan route. The first batch of evacuation involved 32 evacuees, and today (Saturday) the evacuees are in Baku, Azerbaijan, and are awaiting their flight to Indonesia,” said Acting Director of WNI Protection at Kemlu, Heni Hamidah, to journalists on Sunday (8 March).

Kemlu assured that the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to maintain contact with Indonesian nationals currently in Iran. Subsequent evacuation waves of Indonesian nationals will await a decision from the central government based on the situation in Iran.
