Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources ensures fuel and LPG stocks secure for Eid 2026 period
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has assured the public that energy stock security and the smooth distribution of energy supplies during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H period are being maintained effectively, particularly in West Java.
During an official visit to PT Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Downstream Refinery Unit (RU) VI Balongan in West Java on Thursday (12 March), the Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of ESDM, Laode Sulaeman, stated that energy supply requirements — including fuel oil (BBM), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and crude oil — are in safe condition.
“Both crude oil and stocks of fuel and LPG are all available, and the public need not panic about the current situation. We are also implementing innovations including the optimal use of fuel according to needs,” Laode said in a statement from Jakarta on Friday.
Laode added that to optimise energy distribution, PT Pertamina has prepared a range of infrastructure to support public mobility during the homecoming journey. In the West Java Region (RJBB), there are 1,620 fuel stations, 439 Pertashops, 2,331 LPG agents, 206 EV charging stations, and 2 kerosene agents.
“During the holiday period, Pertamina also provides additional services such as motorist assistance and enhanced facilities at service posts that are not typically provided during normal periods,” he said.
Pertamina has made available 427 fuel stations operating 24 hours, 2,180 LPG Standby Agents, 18 fuel and Kiosk Pertamina Standby service points, 52 motorist and Pertamina Delivery Service (PDS) fuel points, 563 PDS Bright Gas agents, 62 tanker vehicles on standby at fuel stations, and 11 MyPertamina rest areas providing rest facilities, mini clinics, children’s play areas and vehicle services.
Based on historical data and projections from 9 March to 1 April 2026, petrol demand in West Java is expected to increase by 9.6 per cent due to increased private vehicle mobility during the homecoming period, while aviation fuel demand will rise slightly by 0.5 per cent.
LPG demand is also projected to increase by 2.86 per cent due to increased household activity during the Ramadan month. Industrial fuel demand is forecast to rise by 7.9 per cent.
Conversely, diesel demand is expected to decline by 27.3 per cent owing to restrictions on logistics vehicle operations during the holiday period.
Refinery Unit (RU) VI Balongan has a processing capacity of 150,000 barrels per stream day (MBSD). The Balongan refinery also features a Nelson Complexity Index (NCI) of 11.9, making it the highest-complexity crude oil processing unit in Indonesia.
Approximately 82 per cent of Balongan Refinery’s products are distributed to Jakarta and West Java via the Integrated Terminal Balongan, Fuel Terminal Cikampek and Integrated Terminal Jakarta (Plumpang). Approximately 12 per cent is distributed to other regions, and 6 per cent of decant oil is exported to Singapore.
