A total of 4,000 civil servants will be trained to become part of the Reserve Component. The Ministry of Defence stated that those who will be trained will do so on a voluntary basis.

“It remains a voluntary scheme. To reiterate, the requirements are that it is voluntary. Therefore, there is no element of coercion, obligation, or anything of the sort,” said the Head of Information at the Ministry of Defence’s Secretariat General, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, in Central Jakarta, Wednesday (25/2/2026).

Rico said that they will only provide a quota, but the number of civil servants participating in the training will depend on the decision of the relevant ministry. In addition, Rico said that a selection process will be carried out for those who will participate in the training.

“Usually, it will be determined from, for example, Ministry A with a number of 1,000, Ministry B with a number of 500, then the quota from Ministry A may only be 50 people, Ministry B only 10 people. The quota will be adjusted to the number of human resources available there,” he said.

“The purpose of the selection is to ensure that the person is healthy and that there are no physical conditions that limit them. Regarding gender, whether male or female, it is up to the respective agencies or ministries. Those who are sent will be in accordance with the registration carried out internally,” he added.

Rico said that the training will be carried out starting in April 2026. The training will be divided into two waves, each consisting of 2,000 civil servants.

“So the first wave will be 2,000 people, then it will be carried out for one and a half months. Followed by the second wave of 2,000 people for the next one and a half months,” he said.

For information, Defence Minister Sjafrie stated that 4,000 civil servants in Jakarta would be trained in the Reserve Component last Saturday (31/1). Sjafrie said that civil servants aged 18-35 would be given basic military training.
