The Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) has officially announced the schedule for the second wave of the Reserve Component (Komcad) training programme specifically for Civil Servants (ASN). Based on gathered information, registration and implementation will begin on 27 August 2026, with a target quota of 2,000 participants. This step is a continuation of the successful first wave, which has just completed its education period. The government views strengthening the character of national defence within the bureaucracy as crucial to creating civil servants who are not only administratively competent but also possess mental resilience and military discipline. The Head of the Defence Information Bureau at the Ministry’s Secretariat General, Brigadier General Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang, through Ministry representative Gabriel, stated that the transition from the first to the second wave will occur immediately after the entire initial education series closes on Friday, 5 June 2026. “We will open the second wave at the end of August. If I am not mistaken, on 27 August,” Gabriel said in an official statement. The increased quota of 2,000 participants demonstrates a scaling up of the programme compared to the previous wave, which was attended by 1,773 civil servants. The selected civil servants will undergo Basic Military Training (Latsarmil) for approximately one and a half months under the supervision of Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) instructors. During the quarantine period, participants will receive intensive material designed to transform their mindset and work ethic. Previously, 1,773 civil servants from various agencies in the Jakarta area completed their education at prestigious military facilities, such as the Medical Corps Training Centre (Pusdikkes), Skadik 301, the Indonesian Air Force Language Centre (Pusbahasa TNI AU), the Greater Jakarta Military Command (Kodam Jaya), and the 1st Marine Force (Pasmar 1) in Cilandak. The success of this first wave serves as a benchmark for the Ministry of Defence to expand the programme’s reach in the second wave. Through this Reserve Component programme, it is hoped that civil servants can become front-line supporters in national defence, both in peacetime and when needed in emergencies, in accordance with the mandate of the law concerning the management of national resources for state defence.
