Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) has detailed several points for strengthening military cooperation with Japan, following the signing of the Defence Cooperation Arrangement (DCA) on Monday (4/5). “This agreement covers enhancements in personnel exchanges, education and research, joint exercises, maritime security cooperation, and collaboration in disaster management,” said the Head of the Defence Information Bureau (Karo Infohan) of the Ministry of Defence Secretariat General, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday. Furthermore, he added, the DCA also opens opportunities for cooperation in defence equipment and technology, which will be developed gradually in accordance with the needs and national interests of each country. According to Rico, this cooperation represents a highly impactful strategic step for improving the quality of Indonesia’s defence. By partnering with Japan, Indonesia is expected to receive defence technology transfers or military education that can enhance the quality of the domestic defence industry and human resources (SDM). Rico continued that in the future, the Ministry of Defence will implement these cooperation points through various military activities. He hopes that this cooperation can proceed well, thereby strengthening the defence of both countries and providing mutual benefits.
