REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is preparing steps for fuel efficiency in a measured and gradual manner. This is as a form of anticipation against global geopolitical dynamics that have the potential to affect energy stability.

The policy is in line with the directives of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who emphasises the importance of proactive steps and national efficiency without disrupting public services or national readiness. Kemenhan and TNI also view the need for early mitigation to maintain economic stability and national resilience.

“As a follow-up, Kemenhan and TNI are carrying out internal adjustments that are administrative and managerial in nature,” said the Head of the Defence Information Bureau of the Kemenhan Secretariat General, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, in Jakarta on Monday (24/3/2026).

Rico explained that fuel efficiency is focused on supporting aspects. Meanwhile, strategic operations and defence readiness remain the top priority and are maintained optimally.

According to Rico, the steps being prepared include regulating resource use more effectively and based on priorities. This also includes alutsista operations and official mobility.

“All policies are implemented adaptively, measurably, and gradually according to the needs of each work unit,” said Rico.

He revealed that several steps are being prepared by Kemenhan. Among others, adjusting workdays from five days to four days in certain functions that allow it, regulating alutsista use based on priority index and operational needs.

“And limiting the use of official vehicles and employee shuttle transport while still considering the effectiveness of task implementation,” said Rico.
