Ministry of Creative Economy Supports Retail Sector Collaboration to Revitalise Cultural Heritage
Jakarta — The Ministry of Creative Economy, through Deputy Minister for Cultural Creativity and Design Yuke Sri Rahayu, has endorsed a cross-sector retail collaboration between Pendopo and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (the state-owned railway company) to revitalise Indonesian cultural heritage as a national identity within creative spaces.
“This collaboration affirms that culture is not merely static, but continually moves, evolves, and remains relevant with the dynamics of our times,” Yuke stated during the Heritage on the Move event at Gambir Station in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Yuke noted that the collaboration, manifested through a Pendopo pop-up store at Gambir Station, demonstrates how local creative products can seamlessly integrate into the daily experience of tourists travelling through the station, infused with cultural meaning.
The partnership can also encourage micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to expand market access, strengthen cultural identity, and drive inclusive and sustainable creative economy growth.
“This represents tangible proof that the creative economy can flourish through experiences, innovation, and narratives that align with public needs,” she said.
Yuke highlighted that access to curated retail spaces for creative products exemplifies how Indonesia’s cultural wealth possesses remarkable competitive advantage in the modern era, transcending space and time.
Through this initiative, Yuke expressed hope that cultural heritage can be leveraged as a source of future strength, remaining vibrant and relevant for the current generation.
