Ministry of Creative Economy Strengthens International Collaboration Through Creative Projects
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) is strengthening the creative economy ecosystem through international collaborations, particularly in subsectors that integrate art and technology.
“Indonesia possesses great strengths in creative talent and cultural diversity. We are very open to cross-country collaborations, especially those combining art, technology, and immersive experiences. This aligns with our efforts to make the creative economy the new engine of growth,” said Deputy Minister of Ekraf Irene Umar in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Monday.
Irene Umar, along with the French delegation, is promoting the strengthening of the creative economy ecosystem through international collaborations based on innovation, technology, and culture in the ICC Immersion Indonesia/Singapore programme from 11-16 April 2026.
Irene Umar also encouraged the French delegation to gain a closer understanding of Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem through direct interactions with creative practitioners in several cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali.
This step is expected to open up opportunities for knowledge exchange while strengthening networks among industry players.
The ICC Immersion programme, initiated by the French Embassy in Indonesia through the Institut Français d’Indonésie (IFI) together with Business France, involves 12 French companies from subsectors of architecture and museography, immersive experiences and games, as well as music, cultural heritage, and live events.
During the audience, the French delegation also presented their approaches and experiences in immersive arts, creative technology, music production, as well as museum management and cultural heritage as references for project development in Indonesia.
Director of IFI, Jules Irrmann, stated that Indonesia is a strategic partner in developing the creative industry in Southeast Asia.
“We see Indonesia as a very dynamic creative ecosystem with strong young talent. This programme brings together French industry players with partners in Indonesia to encourage the birth of innovative and sustainable joint projects,” he said.
This audience is part of the implementation of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and France in the creative economy field, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2025 which covers subsectors of film, animation, crafts, cuisine, fashion, games, and design.
Through this audience, the Ministry of Ekraf is pushing for the acceleration of cooperation realisation in the form of joint projects, talent exchanges, and the development of innovations relevant to the needs of the global creative industry.
