Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that the sportainment industry, including motorsport arenas, constitutes an interconnected and mutually reinforcing creative economy ecosystem. “Motorsport today is not just about racing. Behind every car on the track, there is a long economic chain, from visual design, merchandise production, brand activation, to digital content consumed by the public,” the Creative Economy Minister said in a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. The Creative Economy Minister emphasised that sportainment is one of the new faces of the creative economy, now serving as a new engine for economic growth. The activities within it are capable of creating tangible multiplier effects, from job creation to economic turnover in various subsectors. “When sports, entertainment, and creativity meet, the impact does not stop at the arena. The impact extends to industries, communities, and opens up new sustainable economic opportunities,” the Creative Economy Minister continued. During the launch, Dewa United Motorsports expanded its participation into six divisions, from slalom, engine and electric go-kart, drift, touring, sprint, to rally. The Creative Economy Minister reviewed activities such as the go-kart arena and Formula 4 virtual game simulation, demonstrating direct involvement in the industry’s development. This step affirms that Indonesia’s motorsport industry is becoming increasingly structured and competitive, while opening opportunities for creative players in automotive modification, livery design, event production, and digital content. In line with that, the government is encouraging automotive modification as a new subsector within the National Creative Economy Master Plan, to strengthen the industry’s foundation moving forward. CEO of Dewa United Motorsports, Muliana Saleh, emphasised that the team’s development this season is not only focused on achievements but also contributes to building Indonesia’s motorsport ecosystem. Through this synergy, Dewa United Motorsports not only builds a creative ecosystem in Indonesia and targets Indonesia’s name on the international racing stage, but also emphasises competitive performance in various categories as well as the development of young drivers as a long-term priority. General Secretary of KONI Central, Lukman Djajadikusuma, views this step as part of strengthening national sports development that is increasingly integrated with industry. “Motorsport has great potential in Indonesia, not only in terms of achievements but also as part of an industrial ecosystem that requires cross-sector support or hexahelix collaboration,” said Lukman. The Ministry of Creative Economy continues to encourage the strengthening of the sportainment ecosystem through cross-sector collaborations, thereby creating added value as well as nurturing new talents and sustainable creative business opportunities for Indonesia.
