Ministry of Communication and Digital: PSO Press Ensures Public Access to Quality Information
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) states that the Public Service Obligation (PSO) Programme for the Press is an important instrument to ensure the public receives quality, credible information that reaches all layers of society.
Director General of Public Communication and Media at Kemkomdigi, Fifi Aleyda Yahya, emphasised that Lembaga Kantor Berita (LKBN) Antara not only serves as the implementer of the PSO Press programme but also as a reference for public information.
“PSO Press is not just a programme; it is a strategic instrument to ensure society receives quality, credible information that certainly reaches all layers,” said Fifi at the Kick Off Event for the Implementation of PSO Press 2026 at the Antara Heritage Center, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Fifi encouraged that the production of PSO Press news strengthens the narrative of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes, such as Free Nutritious Meals, Red and White Cooperative, People’s Schools, to digital transformation.
Fifi highlighted the narrative of one of the government’s priority programmes that needs to be strengthened is efforts to protect children in the digital space through Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection.
According to her, this regulation is a breakthrough as well as a commitment from the government to provide protection to children in the digital realm.
“PSO is no longer sufficient to just talk about how many news items are produced, but whether it is relevant, how impactful it is, and how it favours public needs,” she stated.
Meanwhile, President Director of Perum LKBN Antara, Benny Siga Butarbutar, said that Antara is committed to supporting public communication programmes through the dissemination of national development narratives.
He explained that PSO Press is a collaborative programme between LKBN Antara and Kemkomdigi to ensure the accessibility of quality public information to the remotest parts of the country.
“PSO Press is directed to strengthen the narrative of implementing national priority development programmes in the government’s 2026 work plan, which carries the theme of food and energy sovereignty as well as a productive and inclusive economy,” said Benny.
